Question by sherry: Would a garment steamer work well with cotton men shirts?

Hi,

I was thinking of buying an iron or a garment steamer but a garment steamer’s advantage of fast ironing is a real plus point for me. However my husband has many shirts and I want to know if it can replace the iron to some extend? I’ve heard collars and shoulders may not come out well? Does this mean it is not well pressed or it won’t take wrinkles off shirts? PLease advice.

It will remove wrinkles but probably won,t give you that sharp edge that mens shirts are suppose to have

Question by EL Nene Catracho: does someone know how to creat permanent Crease in pants? is there a machene out there you can buy to do this?

I purchase a south at a Man's store and they told me that with 8 dollars more, they would create permanent creases in my pants. And they did it.
Just wondering if apart from irons if there are machines out there you can buy to get the job done at home. I notice that they sell over the counter steamers.

Please help me…..

They are designer and to think that they are all bundled up in my suitcase with other things just doesn’t sound good. I will not have a steamer, just an iron.

You aren’t going to get away with stuffing them in a suitcase and have them come out wrinkle-free. Ain’t gonna happen. Try a suit bag, the kind of luggage you hang something inside of….You could also try some of that wrinkle releaser stuff made by (I think….) Febreze?

I am considering buying a clothes steamer instead of an iron, but I have never had one or used one and I don’t know how well they work. Are they quicker and easier that using an iron?

clothes steamer are good for heavy items where the weight combined with the steam helps pull the creases out. Coats,jumpers (not acrylics) are good. but shirts trs etc still need an iron.

Rowenta makes a great one. I bought a Conair which was worthless. It dripped water on my garments, needed the reservoir filled constantly and it didn’t work well to remove wrinkles from draperies whether they were sheers or heavy weight upholstery. The Rowenta does a wonderful job and is great to have to freshen suits in between dry cleanings, too.

hmm, I suggest changing dry cleaners. The time and all the effort you spent with a steamer…I don’t know at least to me it’s unappealing.

I was looking into it too after staying up late watching infomercials. I was looking around online seeing if I can find it cheaper, but all I read was a lot of bad reviews that it didn’t steam as well, it leaked and was an all around crappy product. I’m looking into buying a conair one thats at Bed Bath & Beyond.
